by tskzThe Municipality of Szczecin, the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland (Szczecin Branch) and the Pomeranian Library would like to invite you all to a project closing event i.e. “A Commemoration for Adina Blady-Szwajger (Irena Świdowska)” at Zbiegniew Herbert’s Hall in the Pomeranian Library, 27 September 2023, 5:00 p.m.
The event’s agenda includes:
– Professor Radosław Ptaszyński, PhD, University of Szczecin – Lecture “Adina Blady-Szwajger – An Unusual Biography”
– Alina Świdowska, the Jewish Theatre, actress
Personal thoughts of Adina’s daughter in the form of a monodrama titled: “I will remember”
Adina Blady-Szwajger (Irena Świdowska) was born on 21 March 1917 in Warsaw. She was a paediatrician by profession; in 1939 she run a first aid station during the Warsaw defence operations; from 1940, she worked as a doctor at the Bersohn and Bauman Children’s Hospital in the ghetto; served as a liaison officer at the Jewish Combat Organisation; during the Warsaw Uprising she worked as a doctor at the battlefield hospital on Miodowa Street; from May 1945 she was employed at the children’s tuberculosis sanatorium in Łagiewniki; in 1960 she moved to Szczecin where she was in charge of a tuberculosis outpatient clinic and a tuberculosis sanatorium for children; after 1968 she worked at a railway health centre in Stargard, at the Nursing College and a paediatrician at Staromłyńska Street. Adina died on 19 February 1993 in Łodź.

On Thursday, 21 September at 5:00 p.m. in Adina Blada-Swajger Park in Gumienice, the planting of 1,000 daffodil bulbs will take place.
The participants will include young people representing the 6th Scout Group “Green Frogs”, Primary School No.16 in Szczecin and the 4th General Secondary School in Szczecin.
This initiative was implemented thanks to the involvement of TSKŻ Szczecin and the Municipality of Szczecin.
