DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE

This is a cyclical event that has been taking place in January in cooperation with numerous cultural institutions in Lodz for 11 years. In Łódź, in the spaces of the Stefan Jaracz Theatre in Łódź, Marek Edelman Dialogue Center in Łódź, the Museum of Independence Traditions, the Museum of the City of Łódź, we present the world of culture and history of Polish Jews. Bearing in mind the great interest in previous editions of the event, every year the organizers and distinguished partners prepare numerous events for the DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE: lectures, theater performances, film screenings and exhibitions. In 2017, we started activities thanks to which smaller events are organized in each of our branches. A permanent element of DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE is also a Special Educational Package addressed to children and adolescents. The program of the package is developed annually by eminent experts on topics and educators. Every year, we also participate in the international campaign „We Remember”.

Every year on January 27, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, representatives of the Social and Cultural Society of Jews in Poland pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. During festivities that take place across the country, our members lay flowers at memorial sites. incl. in Łódź (Radegast Station), Warsaw (Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising), Wrocław (courtyard of the Synagogue near the White Stork) and Częstochowa (areas of the former Nazi forced labor camps in Częstochowa)

Since 2010, the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland and Stefan Jaracz Theatre in Łódź invite their honourable guests, artists and authors to present their works including connotations with the culture and history of Polish Jews.

The most famous participants of THE DAYS OF REMEMBRANCE included, among others: Professor Władysław Bartoszewski, Professor Krystyna Radziszewska, Professor Anna Kuligowska-Korzeniewska PhD Hab., Jan Jagielski, Ewa Makomaska, Agata Tuszyńska,  representatives of the Ester Rachel and Ida Kaminska Jewish Theater In Warsaw, Danka Stankiewicz, Olga Avigail Mieleszczuk, Hadrian Filip Tabęcki, Marek Ravski, Lala Czaplicka and Klezmafour Band.
