The International Holocaust Remembrance Day is for us a special time for recollections. We recall the memories of all those who lost their lives in the Holocaust. As every year on this day, delegates from various TSKŻ branches gathered at their local memorial sites to pay tribute to those who had been murdered.
CZĘSTOCHOWA
The representatives of the TSKŻ Częstochowa, along with their friends and supporters, laid flowers and lit candles at the monument to the Victims of the Częstochowa Ghetto, thus commemorating both the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. As in previous years, the local TSKŻ members joined the #WeRemember campaign, which they documented in a souvenir photo.
DZIERŻONIÓW
Members of the TSKŻ Częstochowa laid flowers and lit candles during the municipal celebrations held to commemorate the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The events were also attended by municipal and county officials, and the representatives of cultural institutions, for e.g. the Museum of Dzierzoniów, and high school students.
GLIWICE
On Tuesday, January 27, a group of delegates nominated by the TSKŻ Gliwic appered at the the Monument to the Victims of the Death March at the Jewish Cemetery in Gliwice to lay flowers and lit candles. This year’s celebrations have been attended, among others, by the Head of the Jewish Religious Community in Katowice, a representative of the Municipality of Gliwice, the Manager of the Upper Silesian Jews Memorial House, and youths from a local secondary school.
KATOWICE
On January 27, events aimed at commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day took place at the Monument to the Victims of German Terror at the Jewish Cemetery at 16 Kozielska St. in Katowice. The event was attended by the representatives of the Institute of National Remembrance, Jewish Religious Community of Katowice, Silesian Voivodeship Office and a group of schoolchildren. Representatives of the local branch of the TSKŻ also took part in the commemorative event. Prayers were said by Sławomir Pastuszka, and the ceremony concluded with the laying of flowers.
KRAKÓW
Members of the Kraków branch of TSKŻ, on the occasion of commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, laid flowers at a fragment of the Kraków Ghetto wall located on Lwowska Street.
ŁÓDŹ
On January 27, we celebrated the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is the keynote event of the Łódź Remembrance Days. City residents, representatives of local authorities, members of Jewish organisations, clergymen of various denominations, representatives of cultural institutions and youths gathered together at the Radegast Station at noon sharp, to pay tribute to those who had been murdered. The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by, among others, Artur Hofman, Chairman of the TSKŻ, Magdalena Jureńczyk, Chairwoman of the TSKŻ Łódź, Izabela Terela, Director of the Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź, Radegast Branch, Marcin Brzozowski, Head of the Kazimierz Dejmek New Theatre in Łódź, Łódź Governor Dorota Ryl, and Mariusz Goss, Mayor of Łódź’s Representative for the City Heritage. As every year, the guests also took part in the #WeRemember campaign. The campaign seeks to commemorate the millions of victims of the Holocaust and to express public condemnation, both online and offline, of any manifestation of hate and anti-Semitism.

WAŁBRZYCH
On 27 January, events aimed at commemorating the International Holocaust Remembrance Day took place in Rogoźnica. At the Gross-Rosen Memorial-Mausoleum, bouquets of flowers and memorial stones were laid by, among others, Sabina Chrapek, Chair of the TSKŻ Wałbrzych, and the Memorial Site’s staff members.
WARSAW
On Tuesday, January 27, ceremonies related to International Holocaust Remembrance Day, organized by the Shalom Foundation, took place at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw. The Warsaw ceremony in was attended by state and local officials, ambassadors, clergy of many faiths, and representatives of cultural institutions and Jewish organizations. The Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland was represented by Ewa Prończuk, Board Secretary and Natasza Konar.
WROCŁAW
On the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, members of the TSKŻ Wrocław laid flowers and lit candles to pay tribute to millions of those who had been murdered in the Shoah. Flowers were placed there to symbolise life and rebirth, and candles to represent the undying flame of remembrance.
SZCZECIN
Róża Król, Chair of the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Szczecin, together with Radosław Mikołajczyk, Deputy Mayor of Police and Marzena Szulc, Head of the Branch Office for the Commemoration of Combat and Martyrdom at the Institute of National Remembrance laid flowers at the former site of the Subcamp of the Stutthof Concentration Camp in Police-Mścięcino. The same group of delegates also paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust at the mural of the Jewish synagogue on Dworcowa Street.
