by tskzBelow please see a joint statement by the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland and the Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Poland concerning an anti-Semitic incident that occurred in Bielsko-Biała on 21 May this year.
On 21 May 2025, another serious incident targeted at the Jewish community in Poland took place. During the concert, which was co-hosted by the local units of the Social and Cultural Association of Jews in Poland and the Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Poland, and co-financed by the Ministry of Interior and Administration, a group of individuals incited by the slogans promulgated by the Razem Party forcefully stormed into the premises, which intimidated and traumatised a group of defenceless elderly people of the Jewish origin. Driven by a sense of impunity, the demonstrators acted with violence thus disturbing the sense of security of the representatives of an ethnic minority gathering at their domicile.
Apparently, the Jewish community in Poland has been subjected to harassment by various anti-Semitic factions quite frequently. The atmosphere of persecution in our community is justified by our historical experience. Today, we are seeing proof that anti-Semitism is not uncommon, both among supporters of the extreme Right and those who back the extreme Left.
As representatives of the leading Jewish institutions in Poland, we urge politicians to take more responsibility for their words, and we expect immediate reaction and preventive measures from the competent authorities.
